Summer holidays Germany / Europe 2024: When do they start and who is last?
Holidays are a time of anticipation, relaxation and adventure for many students and their families. But every year parents and children ask themselves the same question: When do the holidays start in my federal state? For the year 2024, there is a clear schedule that varies from state to state.
Thuringia and Saxony are the first federal states in Germany to start their holidays on June 20, 2024, followed by Saxony-Anhalt, Bremen, and Lower Saxony, all closing their schools from June 24. Traditionally, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg have the longest wait before starting their summer holidays. Their holidays begin on July 25 and July 29, respectively. The time when all 16 federal states are on holiday at the same time is short. Only between July 29 and 31 do all summer holiday dates overlap.
